Palm Sunday
Palm Sunday is the first day of Holy Week, the final week of Lent. It takes place one Sunday before Easter Sunday, and signifies Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem. It’s referenced in Mark 11:8-10:
“Many people spread their cloaks on the road, while others spread branches they had cut in the fields. 9 Those who went ahead and those who followed shouted,
‘Hosanna!’
‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!’
‘Blessed is the coming kingdom!’
‘Hosanna in the highest!'”
To honor Palm Sunday, during our regular Sunday morning services at 9 am, 10 am, and 11 am at our Downtown campus, and at our 10 am service at our Amity Campus, our children will lead us in a palm parade. They’ll process down the main aisle, shouting loud hosannas and waving palm branches to honor the coming Jesus. They will lay their palm branches at the altar in preparation for worship.
If you would like your pre-k to elementary school aged child to be involved in the processional, please arrive 30 minutes early to get ready. We’ll be handing out the palm branches and instructing children on how to handle them. Contact our children’s ministry team for more information.
