Christmas Eve Services
This Christmas Eve, Cathedral of the Rockies invites you and your family to join for worship at one of our campuses in Boise or online. All are welcome!
Christmas is one of the most important days in the Methodist calendar, where we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, the son of God. To celebrate, we will have several special Christmas Eve services throughout the day on Sunday, December 24th. Most services on offer will be a similar traditional candlelight service, but a few will be structured differently. Check the list below to decide which services are right for you.
2:00pm – Christmas Eve Candlelight Service – Sanctuary Downtown
This service will be in the Sanctuary at the Downtown Campus and will take place from 2:00pm to about 3:00pm. It will also be available to view on Facebook and YouTube. We will follow a traditional Christmas Eve service liturgy. There will be a reading of the Christmas story and music to commemorate the moment. At the end, the lights will dim, and the congregation will light candles in unity to usher in the coming Savior. This will be a meditative, traditional worship service full of vocal celebration and quiet anticipation
4:00pm – Christmas Eve Candlelight Service – Sanctuary Downtown
This service will be in the Sanctuary at the Downtown Campus and will take place from 4:00pm to about 5:00pm. It will also be available to view on Facebook and YouTube. We will follow a traditional Christmas Eve service liturgy. There will be a reading of the Christmas story and music to commemorate the moment. At the end, the lights will dim, and the congregation will light candles in unity to usher in the coming Savior. This will be a meditative, traditional worship service full of vocal celebration and quiet anticipation. The Jr. High Strings Ensemble will perform during this service.
4:30pm – Christmas Eve Service – Amity Campus (SW Boise)
This service will be in the Sanctuary at the Amity Campus and will take place from 4:30 to about 5:30. It will also be available to view on Facebook and YouTube. Pastor Ben will lead us in readings of Christmas story as we gather in great anticipation of the coming Savior. The Amity Worship Band will play our favorite Christmas songs in between readings to center our focus in a time of celebration and contemplation. We hope that you’ll join us.
5:30pm – Christmas Eve Family Service – Emmaus Center Downtown
This service will be in the Emmaus Center at the Downtown Campus and will take place from 5:30pm to about 7:00pm. It will also be available to view on Facebook and YouTube. Cathedral of the Rockies Family Life Ministries invites you to a service full of joy and warmth as we present the Christmas story in a more familial way. The Emmaus stage will transform into a cozy living room and stable. The Christmas story will be read and acted out by members of our Cathedral family. We’ll adorn our favorite Christmas sweaters and tacky Christmas mugs as we hear songs from Angels on high! Rumor has it there’s even a chance for snow in the Emmaus Center. We hope you’ll join us for this cozy Christmas celebration for the coming savior!
7:00pm – Christmas Eve Candlelight Service – Sanctuary Downtown
This service will be in the Sanctuary at the Downtown Campus and will take place from 7:00pm to about 8:00pm. It will also be available to view on Facebook and YouTube. We will follow a traditional Christmas Eve service liturgy. There will be a reading of the Christmas story and music to commemorate the moment. At the end, the lights will dim, and the congregation will light candles in unity to usher in the coming Savior. This will be a meditative, traditional worship service full of vocal celebration and quiet anticipation. The Cathedral Choir and Handbells will perform at this service. Consider this service to get the full effect of lighting candles in a darkened sanctuary but don’t have the ability to be out at midnight.
7:00pm – Christmas Eve Service – Amity Campus (SW Boise)
This service will be in the Sanctuary at the Amity Campus and will take place from 4:30 to about 5:30. It will also be available to view on Facebook and YouTube. Pastor Ben will lead us in readings of Christmas story as we gather in great anticipation of the coming Savior. The Amity Worship Band will play our favorite Christmas songs in between readings to center our focus in a time of celebration and contemplation. We hope that you’ll join us.
9:00pm – Christmas Eve Contemporary Service – Emmaus Center Downtown
This service will be in the Emmaus Center at the Downtown Campus and will take place from 9:00pm to about 10:00pm. It will also be available to view on Facebook and YouTube. We will follow a more contemporary Christmas Eve service liturgy. The Emmaus Worship Band will lead us in more contemporary interpretation of our favorite Christmas songs. We will have a reading of the Christmas story as we anticipate the coming savior. There will be moments of quiet anticipation as well as loud jubilation. We hope that you’ll join us!
11:00pm – Christmas Eve Candlelight Service – Sanctuary Downtown
This service will be in the Sanctuary at the Downtown Campus and will take place from 11:00pm to about 12:00am. It will also be available to view on Facebook and YouTube. We will follow a traditional Christmas Eve service liturgy. There will be a reading of the Christmas story and music to commemorate the moment. At the end, the lights will dim, and the congregation will light candles in unity to usher in the coming Savior. This will be a meditative, traditional worship service full of vocal celebration and quiet anticipation. The Epworth Youth Choir will perform at this service. Consider this service if you value a full midnight candlelight service.
