Cathedral Choir

The Cathedral Choir of COTR is a volunteer ensemble that provides musical leadership at the 11:00 weekly worship service and performs a variety of musical styles from across history and around the world. The Cathedral Choir is open to all, with no audition or experience required, and rehearses every Thursday at 7:00 pm.

COTR’s music program also offers the opportunity to dedicated singers from the Cathedral Choir to join smaller ensembles: Grace Notes (open to treble singers), Cathedral Cantors (open to tenors and basses), and the Cathedral Chamber Choir (open by invitation).

The Cathedral handbell choirs ring not only for worship services and concerts at Boise FUMC, but also for handbell festivals and performances in the greater Boise community and beyond. The handbells are directed by Dr. Stephen Kuykendall and rehearse every Thursday at 6:00 p.m.

Cathedral Consort

The Cathedral Consort is the Boise FUMC orchestra, sustained by community instrumentalists of various age and skill level. They provide excellent music for worship and special events in a variety of ways throughout the year: as soloists, small ensembles, and as a full ensemble supporting a soloist or the choirs. The Cathedral Consort rehearses on an ad hoc basis prior to scheduled performances.

Cathedral Collective

The Cathedral Collective is comprised of a passionate group of volunteer musicians and vocalists of varying skill levels, ages, and backgrounds. The Collective’s primary responsibility is to provide musical leadership during the 10:00 Sunday worship service in the Emmaus Center. Musicians and vocalists are placed on a rotating schedule and can choose how often they participate. Music ranges from classic hymns to modern worship selections to songs. The primary goal of the Collective is to build community through the shared goal of making soul-lifting music. The Cathedral Collective rehearses on Thursday evenings and is directed by Layne Watkins.
