Can We Talk? Progressive Christian and Jewish Perspectives on Abortion – Wednesday, November 9th @ 7pm
“Within the dominant conversation on abortion, we have been pushed to take a side of being either for life, for babies, or for choice, for women,” says Rev. Dr. Duane Anders, Senior Pastor of the Cathedral of the Rockies, and the host of the event. “We need a much broader conversation. Perhaps the binary way that we view life is inadequate for us as spiritual beings.” He added, “I am a pro-choice-pro-life pastor.” The keynote speaker will be Rev. Dr. Rebecca Todd-Peters, Professor of Religious Studies and Founding Director of the Poverty and Social Justice Program at Elon University. Peters will explore the moral questions underlying the abortion debate, while exploring women’s rights and abortion rights from a faith-based perspective. Rabbi Daniel Fink, the rabbi for the Ahavath Beth Israel congregation, will speak about abortion from the perspective of the Jewish faith.
