Matt Roos
Music Director of DISCIPLES IN DENIM

Matt has enjoyed singing and playing guitar since he was a child.  He studied vocal and instrumental music through high school and college, and has performed as a solo act and with many small ensembles and choirs throughout the years.

While majoring in accounting, Matt performed with the acoustic band “Standing Room Only” during his college days at University of Idaho.  The band played at many establishments in the Moscow area, then moved to Boise after graduating, where they became a “house” band that played regularly at local nightspots.  Since that time, he has played with several other groups and as a solo.  He has written and produced advertising jingles, and with Nancy Roos co-wrote the song “Celebrate Idaho”, which was selected as the Idaho Centennial Song.

Currently, Matt enjoys writing songs and performing with several acoustic-country bands, as well as the contemporary jazz group Möbius Trip.  On Sundays, he directs the Disciples in Denim at the Cathedral of the Rockies’ Blue Jeans service, including singing and playing guitar, bass, keyboards and drums as needed.  He also enjoys providing the music for the evening candlelight service and other events as a solo performer.
