Letter from the Pastor
We may not recognize it, but we all live by vision. Visions are formed within our minds, carved out of our dreams and hopes and deepest yearnings. How we live day-by-day is usually guided by our individual visions of what is to be in the future.
The same is true with our church. Scripture states that a people without a visions perish. We are not perishing because we do have a vision of what God is calling us to be. God’s vision for us is our future. I believe God has given us clarity that our future lies with our children and youth. I want to reach as many children and youth as I can with the Good News of Jesus Christ. At the same time, I want to relieve them of debts incurred by our recent remodel and expansion.
The God’s Vision, Our Future campaign seeks to address both issues. We will allocate 25% of the first $2 million raised in pledges to infuse needed funds for equipment, support, and staff to help us reach out to our own children and youth, and to encourage those who do not have a church home to join us here at The Cathedral. The balance raised in pledges over a three year period will go towards debt elimination.
On the wall of a church in England there is a sign that reads,
"A vision without a task is but a dream
A task without a vision is drudgery,
A vision and a task are the hope of the world.”
I believe our vision is linked to this understanding. We have a vision and a task that is filled with hope and promise. It is my desire that you prayerfully ask God to guide you in sharing the blessings God has given you. Together we can truly extend this God given vision to future generations who will love and care for this beautiful church that God has placed in our hands.
In Christ’s love,
Steve Tollefson
