Dr. Paul A. Aitken
Conductor, Composer, Administrator

The first-ever winner of the American Choral Directors Association's prestigious Raymond W. Brock Memorial Student Composition Competition Award (1999) for Flanders Fields, Paul Aitken has continued to make significant strides in the field of choral music.

Dr. Aitken's numerous compositions have been performed and recorded throughout the United States, in Canada, and in Europe. He is published in the Lawson/Gould catalog (a division of Alfred Publications) and under the FlandersPublications.com label.

Currently, Dr. Aitken is the National Chair of the Music in Worship Repertoire and Standards Committee for the American Choral Directors Association. He has twice been a national judge for ACDA competitions, has competently served as site chair for the 2005 Los Angeles National Convention, and has previously served as Division Chair in the US Northwest.

Inspirational and visionary, Aitken is both the founder of the Cathedral Conservatory, the Cathedral Concert Series, as well as the Les Bois Chamber Singers. His achievements to date have landed his biography, since 2006, in the Marquis editions of Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the World.

Aitken holds degrees from the University of Western Ontario, Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, and the University of Oklahoma. Both a husband and a father, Paul is also the Director of Music Ministry at the Cathedral of the Rockies in Boise, Idaho (a flagship church of 3,500) where he oversees sixteen ensembles comprised of 300 volunteer musicians.
